Second Chances

second-chances1

Everyone deserves a second chance.  Sure maybe you might crash and burn all over again and people will say I told you so, but maybe something magical will happen instead (you do like magic don’t you?).  Maybe all of your wildest dreams will come true.  Everything will fall perfectly into place, and you will be glad you took the chance instead of wandering only WHAT IF? Super Bowl XLIII: We Wuz There

The Art of Anonymity

The Art of Anonymity

The game was good.  Thank God, the game was good.  Nobody enjoys a shitty Super Bowl.  The blowouts don’t work well for layman fans.  Luckily for our “On Location Correspondent” (pictured above) his team came out on top.  But, you know what?  I would have been equally as impressed with the game had the Cardinals won.  Reginald Blackstone’s incessant “BUZZZZZZZZZZing” can finally stop.  His heart may have been in the right place, but fuck, that was annoying.

The Super Bowel: Preview?

“The Super Bowel” is an original Fourth and Fifty daily feature that will run until Sunday. Why until Sunday? Because Super Bowl will be the final movement (you know what I’m sayin’?). Consider “The Super Bowel” to be the precursor flatulence, false reports and contrived stank that is the prelude coverage of big game. Nothing contained herein has any merit  Consider this the time that the random ass that you brought home from the bar fell asleep mid-coitus and then asked you “did we have sex last night” via text the next afternoon.

Oh, yeah... Right there. Thats the spot.

Oh, yeah... Right there. That's the spot.

Welcome to the Super Bowl XLIII edition of the Super Bowel.  Do you know what that means?  Only that this is just a post to make sure that we have some content for the day.  Yep, nothing more than that. To make it up to you maybe I will just a picture of a sexy honey that I found when I image googled “super bowl” before I found the above picture inadvertantly.  Look at those Giants.  So proud.  Tyree gives the best “no handsies blowskies” around.  The O-line is so impressed that they can’t even watch.  I hope whoever wins today can find that kind of joy.  It’s priceless really.  Here’s your preview:

Best Headline Ever?

Best Headline Ever?

Gene Walker has got my vote for “Sports Reporter of the Year”.  It takes some cojones to include the word “spunk” (in quotation marks, mind you) in the headline of your article.  Good form, Gene.  Good form.  But, I’m wondering if we can improve on the headline.  How might we attract more viewers to the McDuffie Mirror?

Willie’s ‘Spurts’ are Key to Success
‘Spunk’ is Deemed Cardinals’ Sin
Steelers Aim to Plow Through ‘Gaps’

I honestly don’t think I can do any better.  Kudos, Mr. Walker.  I can see I’ve met my match.

Commenters… I leave it up to you to 1-up Master Walker.

Who Should I Bet On?

I like to focus on bets that bring the biggest payouts.  Screw the idea of “safe bets”.  Safe went out the window when you decided to gamble your money.  My philosophy is, if an event has close to a 50/50 chance of happening, and the payout for the bet is better than 2 to 1 (+200), then you should take the option that has the potential to pay you more.

Take for example this past Saturdays fight, Shane Mosley vs. Antonio Margarito for the Welterweight title.  Mosley was the underdog at +300, so if he wins you are getting 3 to 1 on your money.  I felt this was more or less an even match up, so I bet on Mosley because the reward was greater for the amount of risk involved on betting on him.  Mosley won and I got paid.  If you are always betting on events that have close to an even outcome, and you are taking the side that pays you 2 to 1 (+200) or better, then on average you are going to be winning more money than you lose in the long run.  With that being said….
