Second Chances

Everyone deserves a second chance.  Sure maybe you might crash and burn all over again and people will say I told you so, but maybe something magical will happen instead (you do like magic don’t you?).  Maybe all of your wildest dreams will come true.  Everything will fall perfectly into place, and you will be glad you took the chance instead of wandering only WHAT IF?

Running back Chris Brown has recently been cleared by doctors to get back to football.  The Texans love giving injury prone running backs a chance to succeed.  Sure it hasn’t happened yet, but I feel something special in the air this year.  Second chances all around.

Michael Vick went to prison for dog fighting as you all should know by now, but he should be getting out soon.  The man has paid his debt to society and I’m thinking he’s good enough to at least play for the Detroit Lions.  If there isn’t a spot in the NFL for him, the United Football League (doomed for failure) will be waiting for him with open arms.  As the great George W. Bush said, America is the land of the second chance – and when the gates of the prison open, the path ahead should lead to a better life.

T.O. found his way to the Buffalo Bills.  Now there’s an organization that knows how to give second chances.  Not too long ago Marshawn Lynch was arrested on gun charges, hey big deal I’ve seen worse.  That’s why he got a second chance.

Wide receiver Matt Jones will likely receive a second chance after failing a drug test and violating his plea deal from last year.  You know the one where he got in trouble for doing cocaine in a car in a parking lot in Fayettville, Arkansas.

And who can forget Santonio Holmes being arrested for marijuana possession earlier in the 2008 football season.  What happened?  The Steelers gave him a second chance, and he ended up with the game winning touchdown and MVP honors for the Superbowl.

  1. Speaking of second chances…. didn’t I win a bet?

  2. Nothing good will come of this…

  3. Also this isn’t TO’s second chance… it’s his second second chance because Dallas was his first second chance. Could I have written that last sentence in less confusing manner? Yes, but I didn’t feel like it. TO just chose Buffalo because they don’t ever get free agents, and therefore cannot be picky about who chooses to play there. If you could choose to live in any city with an NFL team in it in the US would you choose Buffalo New York? No, you most certainly would not, unless you had an orgasm every time you shoveled snow, then you most certainly would move choose to move there. Well that’s how NFL free agents feel about Buffalo. Finally, Do I like to ask myself questions so that I can answer them? Yes, I do

    • Wouldn’t this be his second second second chance?

      The 49ers fallout?

      • Yes, and so when you multiply it together, that means it’s his eighth chance.

Well you know what they say, they eighth time is the charm

        • Yeah, it usually takes me about 8 tries before the lady gets off… Sounds about right.

          • so you call your penis the lady now?

            • SHE IS A LADY DAMMIT!!! DON’T EVER SAY OTHERWISE!

  4. sports are not a metaphor for life. they are a metaphor for other, less popular, sports.
