So is there any chance the Rockets can find a legitimate back up for Yao Ming, now that Deke is out of the game? I’m thinking someone at least 7 feet tall. Maybe a young player. A guy that could potentially start at center should the “Great Wall” find himself injured again next year (knock on wood, no not my penis Rex, there is no homo here). Better yet, a very defensive talented player with the potential to develop an effective offensive game.
If only there was a player that fit this profile in the draft tonight. What’s that you say? There is a player like this? The Rockets would just have to trade up in the draft to get him? His name is Hasheem Thabeet? Have you ever seen this many question mark sentences in a row???
Let’s take a look at some of Hasheem’s highlights:
If you watch as much ESPN as I do, you have probably heard the phrase, “you can’t teach tall.” All the other good teams in the West have more than one big man. Los Angeles has Gasol and Bynum. Portland has Przybilla and Oden. San Antonio doesn’t count because I can’t remember the last time Duncan was injured. He requires no back up. Denver has Andersen who isn’t quite 7 feet, but he can fly so…
Unless Yao gets more rest during the season, it’s only a matter of time before he will get injured for some reason or another. The Rockets need to start looking toward the future to hedge against this risk.

I like Thabeet, but my only concern with him is him replacing Yao on the offensive side, since Yao was the leading scorer in the playoffs until he got hurt.
My concern is that you need to STFU when talking about the Rockets, Pipez. Stick to your San Antonio teams that cheat their way to half-championships.
