Well it’s Saturday, and by now most of you have probably slept off that hangover from drinking last night. In case you forgot the Belmont Stakes is today (6:30pm ET on ABC and ESPN).
Borel will be racing the favorite, Mine that Bird. Keep an eye on Summer Bird to win this race. It has the same sire, so genetically Summer Bird is very similar to the favorite Mine that Bird. Other horses to keep in mind, especially if you are betting are Chocolate Candy, Miner’s Escape, Brave Victory and Luv Gov. (Summer Bird as mentioned earlier). The favorites in the field only win 50% of the time so I think 1 of these 5 horses has a good shot at beating the favorites. If you wagered the same amount on all 5 of these horses, as long as one of them won you would make money.
It’s time to get back to hangovers. Later today or tonight you have to go to the theater and check out one of the funniest movies of the year, The Hangover (check out the trailer here). I watched it last night with a few friends and I laughed practically the entire movie. Let’s make the jump to your Houston sportz…
TEXANS: Looking for more opportunities to make money, the Texans will soon be sporting sponsorships on their practice jerseys. Not only that the Texans along with the Cowboys are getting close to having their own instant win lottery tickets.
ROCKETS: With the exception of Yao doing cartoon voices, there really isn’t too much going on right now. There is an interview with Aaron Brooks for those interested.
ASTROS: The Astros Win! The Astros Win! The Astros Win! The Astros walked away with a 9-1 victory over the butt Pirates yesterday. Not only that, Carlos Lee hit a grand slam. Keep it up Stros. The Astros play the butt Pirates again today at 6:05pm.
RICE: LSU beat Rice 12-9 in the NCAA Super Regional yesterday. After building a 4-1 lead in the fourth inning, LSU charged back in the 5th to regain the lead and eventually the win. Rice and LSU face off again today at 5pm (i don’t know if that time is eastern or not).
UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON: Fox26 Sports has reported that the search for a new athletic director has been narrowed to six candidates.
