Tribute to Dikembe Mutombo

In a sad turn of events, the great Dikembe Mutombo has been seriously injured, in Game 2 of the Rockets Trailblazers Playoff Series.  Although Dikembe previously announced his retirement at the end of this season, this latest knee injury will likely keep him out of the game for good.

We will all remember and appreciate all Dikembe brought to the world, the game of basketball, the city of Houston, and the Rockets.  From building a hospital in his native country to using his Cookie Monster voice to get the Rockets going, Mutombo was a motivator on and off the court.

Personally, I will miss Deke’s amazing finger wag celebration after his blocks, in which he would wave his 12 inch pointer finger back and forth in the air with the stone cold look of pure confidence on his face.  I hear Yao Ming has decided to incorporate the finger wag for the remainder of the playoffs as a tribute to Dikembe Mutombo, only he will use his middle finger.

Thank you Dikembe for everything you have done.  You will be missed on the court, but I hope you will still be on the bench with the team motivating them to victory.

Good Day Sir,
