Rockets and Round One of the Playoffs

rockets

No Limit Soldiers Landry and Wafer are secret weapons to playoff success.

The Houston Rockets are currently on a four game win streak averaging almost 106 points a game.  Right now it doesn’t look like anything can get in the way of the Rockets winning.  They posted a victory of 113 to 109 versus the Golden State Warriors without Yao Ming starting.  The Rockets will be facing off against the New Orleans Hornets tomorrow night on the road, hopefully with Yao back in the mix.
With only two games remaining on the schedule, I can only hope that the Rockets will position themselves to play any team but the Jazz (which currently looks like they don’t need to worry about).
These are the current standings in the West:

1.) L.A. Lakers (63-17)     Games Left: Grizzlies, Jazz
2.) Denver Nuggets (53-27)     Games Left: Kings, Trailblazers
3.) Houston Rockets (52-28)     Games Left: Hornets, Mavericks
4.) Portland Trailblazers (52-28)     Games Left: Thunder, Nuggets
5.) San Antonio Spurs (51-28)     Games Left: Kings, Warriors, Hornets
6.) New Orleans Hornets (49-31)     Games Left: Rockets, Spurs
7.) Dallas Mavericks (48-32)     Games Left: Timberwolves, Rockets
8.) Utah Jazz (47-33)     Games Left: Clippers, Lakers

Projected Playoff Standings upon completion of regular season:

1.) L.A. Lakers (65-17)     Games Left: Grizzlies – Win, Jazz  – Win
2.) Denver Nuggets (54-28)     Games Left: Kings – Win, Trailblazers – Lose
3.) Portland Trailblazers (54-28)     Games Left: Thunder – Win, Nuggets – Win
4.) Houston Rockets (53-29)     Games Left: Hornets – Win, Mavericks – Lose
5.) San Antonio Spurs (53-29)     Games Left: Kings – Win, Warriors – Win, Hornets – Lose
6.) New Orleans Hornets (50-32)     Games Left: Rockets – Lose, Spurs – Win
7.) Dallas Mavericks (50-32)     Games Left: Timberwolves – Win, Rockets – Win
8.) Utah Jazz (48-34)     Games Left: Clippers – Win, Lakers – Lose

Projected Round 1 Match Ups:

1.) L.A. Lakers (Lakers Win because Kobe dominates)
8.) Utah Jazz (Jazz lose because they are not playing the Rockets)

2.) Denver Nuggets (Nuggets Win because Mark Cuban is stupid)
7.) Dallas Mavericks (Mavs lose because they choke)

3.) Portland Trailblazers (Trailblazers Win because ?)
6.) New Orleans Hornets (?)

4.) Houston Rockets (Rockets Win because Ginobili is out)
5.) San Antonio Spurs (Spurs lose because Pipez predicted them to win the Championship)

So there you have it.  The Houston Rockets make it out of the first round this year without Tracy McGrady.  It’s all about matchups people.  Houston fans can rejoice because we can finally watch a playoff series against another team than the Jazz.

  1. man that picture is gayer than gay.

    • There’s nothing wrong with a little bromance.

  2. Damn you, Blackstone, THE Random Baby was just about to make her playoff predictions when she woke up from her nap. Although I guess we’ll all start doing playoff predictions with in a few days.

    • You can always be the first to make predictions on the east.

  3. Except we get the Jazz if they manage to pull out the impossible and beat the Lakers… Not that I’m Nostradamus or anything. The possibility just scares me. I will not rest easy until the Jazz are out of the playoffs.

  4. Well at least if the Spurs can make it out of the first round, based on these projections. Especially, since the Rockets= Playoffs fail. And don’t give me any of the “this year is different” like they say every year
