The Savior
That’s right. The Coogs just had their first scrimmage of spring training last Saturday. I for one think it has been entirely too long since any form of college football has been played. There should be some form of the college pigskin being tossed on a weekly basis.
As the Murphy-less Chron reports, the defense supposedly played quite well. They were physical, created 4 turnovers, and only allowed 479 yards and 4 offensive touchdowns. Wait, what? That’s a good outing? Really? I love my Coogs as much as anyone else, but holy shit, that’s weak. I know our offense is strong, but come on, force some 3 and outs.
Some other notable successes on the same level as the Coogs defensive performance this weekend:
The French: A strong effort, but they are cheese-eating surrender monkeys after all.
Harry S. Truman: Oh, nevermind.
OJ Simpson: See, because he says he never did it, but he really did
On a separate note, apparently we have a quarterback named Cotton Turner. How awesome is that? To quote John Madden, “that’s a football name.” Other awesome football names that we should seek out and recruit:
Walker Nylon
Corduroy Jackson
Silky Jones
But I digress…
The long and the short of it is, preparations for another season of college football have begun, and that is awesome. Hopefully, we can actually build on this stellar defensive performance in order to adequately handle teams like Texas Tech and Oklahoma state, and make a run at the conference championship. Late-August/Early-September cannot come soon enough.
